The Morton Fam

Where to start? I have been sitting here for 45 minutes trying to figure out what to write. Well for starters, baby Jaxton is doing well. We have managed to stay out of the ICU for a little over two weeks now. He has a heart condition called SVT(supraventricular tachycardia), basically his heart sometimes beats too fast, he got up to 290 beats per minute. We spent 12 days in the ICU. He is now on two medications to slow down his heart. The medications are kind of a pain. It is rather difficult to get a baby to swallow the medicine without him gagging. We are learning how to use a stethoscope, who knew it was so hard? Hopefully the condition will fix itself within the next year. If not, he will have surgery when he is four or five years old. He is doing pretty good now, the medication just makes him kind of sleepy, and he doesn't have much of an appetite.

As for the rest of the family, Hallie has started first grade and is loving it. This is her getting her student of the month award, notice how much taller she is then the other first graders. She is such a good student and is so smart and so responsible. She loves to help. The other morning she woke me up and said "mom, Hayden had a poopy diaper but I changed it and got her dressed. I will keep her in the playroom so you can keep sleeping." She is so sweet and so thoughtful, and so curious. She has about a thousand questions a day! She is also very fun and loves to laugh.

Avery just started preschool this week. In typical Avery style, she has been talking all summer about going to school, and been so excited, and then the day of school she said, "maybe I don't want to go to school." She has really liked it though. I asked her who she played with the first day of school, she said, "just the girls, no boys." She is liking being a big girl like Hallie. She is so good and so patient. She is learning to help, kind of. She likes to hold Jaxton and talks so sweetly to him.

Hayden is a wild and crazy girl. She is Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. She is such a mix. One minute she is rocking her baby and singing Twinkle, Twinkle and the next minute she is screaming at someone and throwing things. She has quite a temper, but she can be so sweet. She is very good with Jaxton, but does not appreciate that I can't hold her sometimes. She is quite the little swimmer. She has missed "Eggy and Howie"(what she calls Avery and Hayden) being at school, but she is having a good time with "Jaque".

We sure have enjoyed having a little boy in our family. While I was pregnant, I said I didn't care if we had a boy or a girl, but now that he is here I am so glad to have a son. It is so different having a boy. Diapering is a whole new ballgame. I am sure everything will be an adventure for years to come. Jaxton is so sweet and we love him so much.

Nick and I keep busy running our family and our business. Four kids is a BIG family. We don't have any trouble falling asleep at night! It is a good life. We love our neighborhood and our ward. So many people have prayed and fasted for us these past few weeks. We have had such great support from family and friends. We are so blessed.
